About Me

Hi!  I am Ashley Adkerson.  I live in Minnesota, USA, with my husband and three kids.  I am a knitting enthusiast and a homeschooling mom.  I love homeschooling my kids, but I also wanted my own side business.
I started knitting in the spring of 2007, and it quickly became one of my passions.  I have always been a restless knitter, craving variety and constantly seeking to learn something new.  I enjoy reading knitting books and watching knitting videos.  I was a student of the Knit Stars classes the past four years.  There are few knitting techniques left that I have not tried.  I am familiar with shawls, sweaters, hats, mittens, socks, diaper covers, blankets, toys, and scarves; lace, cables, brioche, Fair Isle, intarsia, mosaic, and entrelac.  I have also written a few patterns, and I am now learning crochet.

I had been wishing for some sort of knitting-related work I could do from home to supplement our income.  I had some experience with test knitting and enjoyed the collaboration, so I decided that tech editing would be the perfect fit for me.  My education was in English and linguistics, and I scored well in math.  In college I worked as a proofreader, tutoring students in writing papers.  It is exciting that I can take those skills and combine them with my love for knitting.

In early 2019 I took Joeli Kelly's online program "Learn, Build, Grow," which includes three classes: "Learn to Tech Edit," "Build a Tech Editing Business," and "Grow Your Client Base."  I look forward to learning something new from every designer I work with.  I also enjoy working with new designers who are still learning how to write patterns.
